Toman (Mason), Velius (Paul), and Ziyal (Joy)
The Hellblazers are forced into a confrontation with Xoblob. The Beholder, angered over Jone slinking off to search for the captive Wilbough, is appeased after Akkamas makes an impassioned plea for mercy, capitalizing on the aberration’s greed and desperate situation. Xoblob needs someone to attune to the Stone of Golorr, as it cannot.
Abraxas agrees to do so and thus Kelwyn contacts Jone and Tim, explaining their situation and calling them back to the fold.
Xoblob acquiesces and leads them to where Wilbough is being held. The aberration then tells them they can find the Stone beyond the cells, in the mage’s chamber, adding that he will meet them in the pub once they have collected the artifact.
The party collects the halfling, who is clothed only in his under-garments, and proceed to explore the areas beyond the dungeon cells. They search an office where a few items of interest are discovered, but no Stone, though some curious clues to both Elspeth and Ocasta are found there.
A second chamber revealed a small chapel and an Illithid worshiper. A fight ensues, as the aberration lashes out at the intruders. The creature is quickly dispatched however and the Hellblazers return to their exploration of the Beholder’s extradimensional lair.
Meanwhile, Jone heard a noise coming from one of the cells. Inside, he was stunned to find their nefarious cohort, Jace ibn Alhazared. Freeing the rogue, Tim was quick to distrust the approaching merchant, and when Jace called out Kelwyn‘s former flame, Du’ra, by name —a person he should not have known — the jig was up.
The druidess raised a wall of thorns between them and a fight broke out…again. Jace was slain, revealing him to be a doppleganger hoping to infiltrate the party.
The rest of the lair was then searched, including a laboratory, before they finally found the mage’s chamber. Inside, the Stone was found, but not before Braxton inadvertently triggered a trapped chest, severally wounding himself and Jone.
The Hellblazers gathered their spoils, including the Stone of Golorr and the majority of Wilbough‘s clothing and items, and met with Xoblob, agreeing to terms. The party then returned to Trollskull Alley for a much deserved respite and planning session.
And thus another chapter in the Hellblazers’ adventures came to a close…
